The Challenge: An Overwhelming and Inefficient System
The Strong Family app plays a vital role in documenting the well-being and progress of program participants. However, users faced significant challenges—navigation was confusing, the learning curve was steep, and slow load times created frustration. The outdated interface made it difficult for users to access crucial information, track household progress, and collaborate effectively across organizations.The existing design lacked intuitive flows for onboarding, household management, and documentation. Users struggled to complete essential tasks, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities for meaningful engagement. Something had to change.
The Vision: A Streamlined, User-Centric Platform
I envisioned a Strong Family app that streamlines workflows, improves accessibility, and empowers users to manage their responsibilities with confidence. Rather than forcing users to navigate disjointed pages and decipher unclear buttons, the redesign focused on creating a cohesive, structured, and intuitive experience.
To bring this vision to life, the team:
Redesigned Navigation & Information Architecture – Simplified role switching, improved user profile access, and optimized training and organizational support.
Built a Smarter Household Management System – Overhauled landing and detail pages with improved filtering, search, and data entry tools.
Revamped Landing & Detail Pages – Ensured consistency across households, organizations, regions, divisions, and sites.
Enhanced Well-being Documentation – Created structured, user-friendly evaluation and life event tracking flows.
Introduced Grouping Functionality – Developed household grouping features to track training across seven key domains.
Designed Offline Functionality & Syncing – Ensured a seamless experience between online and offline use.
Optimized the Dashboard – Highlighted essential data and insights, making it easier for users to monitor progress and take action.
Developed a Scalable Design System – Established Strong Family’s design system using variables, ensuring UI consistency and WCAG compliance.
